Composing music

Over the last couple of weeks we have been composing music using  the desk bells and photographs.
The idea is to choose some photographs, set them in a line and play the bells in the order of the photos.

Here is a video to show how it's done.

Writing words at the Jolly Phonic table

The children are working really hard to hear the sounds in words.
We break the word down (segment) to hear the sounds and then we put the word back together (blend) to read the word.

This week, the children are trying to write words using their phonic skills.

There are lots of game on the Internet to help practise phonic skills.

Here are a couple to try Alphablocks and Mr Thorne does Phonics

Gold Book

Congratulations Daniel and Scarlett

Scarlett is in the Gold Book this week for her kind manners and for being a very polite member of our class. It is a pleasure teaching Scarlett in FS2.

Daniel is working really hard in class. He is tackling the tasks in his Challenge Book and practising to hold a pencil properly. Keep at it Daniel!

Frosty fun in FS2

The cold theme continued for another week in FS2. The recent snowfall was perfect for our Arctic animals to play in. The children enjoyed using the penguins in the snow, reading Disney's Frozen, making Arctic animals with dough and ordering numbered cups.

Happy New Year and welcome back!

Welcome back to school, I hope everyone has had a great holiday and ready for another great term.
Thank you for our cards and presents, you're all very kind.

We welcome Miss Jones to our class, a student teacher in her final year. She will be teaching this term and I already know she has lots of lovely experiences planned. A few photos of the fun so far in our 'Frozen' classroom.
